‘A-influences’ is a concept referring to influences that lead to short-term satisfaction. A-influences lead to entanglement and aging badly.
A-influences lead to competing in "alpha" games; and are an abstract cause of all wars. They are relatively unconscious and "automatic" behavior. They are undifferentiated behavior, and have their center in the idolic Other as opposed to the real other. A influences are attractors for narcissistic behavior. Narcissism feeds on A influences.
Boris Mouravieff coined the concept.
Similar in some aspects to Lacan's objet a. It can be useful to associate ‘a’ with ‘addiction’, ‘accident’, ‘alienation’, ‘arbitrariness’, ‘aggressiveness’.
A influences led Oedipus' father to sacrifice his own son for the superstitions ideal of not being outdone by his son.
