Anti-whiteness is prejudice against white people. This is sometimes called reverse racism.

Donald Trump claims anti-whiteness is a huge issue and seeks to eliminate diversity, equity and inclusion programs as part of the solution. In 2017, the majority of Americans believed white people faced discrimination.

Evidence

Experts say that racial equality is not a zero-sum game—fighting discrimination against people of color will not cause discrimination against white people.

White people don't need to worry too much just yet. Research suggests that anti-whiteness is not common or systemic:

• A field experiment involved sending hundreds of black, white, and Latinx people to apply for jobs using equivalent resumes. Black people were half as likely to get callbacks relative to equally-qualified white people. Black and Latinx applicants with clean backgrounds fared equally to white applicants just released from prison.
• A meta-analysis of hiring field experiments showed that black job applicants fared worse. No study showed white people doing worse.
• Airbnb guests with black-sounding names are 16% less likely to be accepted relative to guests with white-sounding names.

Of course, people who are rude to white people exist and are unpleasant to interact with. However, their beliefs are not the cultural norm.

Is anti-whiteness a form of racism?

Racism is often thought of as only targeting non-dominant groups. Whether anti-white "racism" is an accurate descriptor, then, is debatable. However, anyone can be prejudiced against any group.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Thursday warned that anti-white racism might be building in the United States and said that political correctness "taken to the extreme" would have lamentable consequences.
