The term thelema is the English transliteration of the Koine Greek noun θέλημα (pronounced [θélɛ:ma]), "will", from the verb θέλω (thélō): "to will, wish, want or purpose".[1] The term serves as a name associated with the idea of following one's will, and even for a divine conception of the will, called thelema --- currently largely originated from an occult spiritual philosophy and a new religious movement founded in the early 1900s by Aleister Crowley, in the West.[2]
